Mechanobiology facility

  • The Mechanobiology Facility provides access to advanced instrumentation for the biophysical and biomechanical characterisation and fabrication of biological samples and biomaterials, spanning length scales from molecules to tissues. The facility supports research in mechanobiology, enabling applications such as biomaterial development, cell mechanics studies, scaffold analysis, and organoid characterisation.  

    By integrating mechanical testing, high-resolution imaging, and bio fabrication technologies, the facility enables researchers to investigate how physical forces and material properties influence biological function in health and disease. 

    The facility is available to researchers across the University, as well as external users from academia and industry.

    Our facility houses a comprehensive suite of platforms for mechanical characterisation, imaging, and bio fabrication:
